Meet Amy

Hi! I’m Amy Kervin - A certified parenting coach, educator and mama to two wild and wonderful children.

I was born and raised in Miramichi, New Brunswick, and I currently live and teach in Kingston, Ontario. I have been a stay at home mom, a mom who teaches full-time and one who works from home -– and I can’t decide which is most challenging! I love practicing hot yoga, staying fit, and cooking and crafting with my two wild and wonderful children. I am also more than a little obsessed with coffee, ALL things design and beautifully written and illustrated children’s books.

I am passionate about children and advocating on their behalf. To this end, I develop courses and workshops for parents, work one-on-one with families, participate in speaking engagements, and offer additional support to parents through my website. I am also a writer for the popular parenting website, MOM TALK NB.

I speak a lot about where children are developmentally and always from the perspective that, if we begin to parent more consciously and compassionately, we can change the world…one little heart at a time.

My Background

Since graduating with my Bachelor of Education degree, I have taught in three different provinces across Canada. I spent 11 years in Vancouver, British Columbia teaching primary at one of the top-rated schools in the country. Prior to earning my BEd, I received a Bachelor degree in psychology and sociology. I have continued to immerse myself in the study of psychology, dedicating the past nine years to deepening my understanding of child development and attachment theory. I am particularly interested in how that learning can be applied to better our parenting, and our education and childcare systems.

In 2018, under the training of Kim John Payne, I received my certification as a Simplicity Parenting Family Life Coach. I continue to study with Kim John Payne and some of my other mentors and teachers including Dr. Gordon Neufeld, Dr. Deborah MacNamara, Patti Drobot and Dr. Shefali Tsabury via courses, books, workshops and conferences.
